Fire Up Your Leadership

Fire Up Your LeadershipFire Up Your Leadership

The leader in you, ignited.

Discover exactly what to work on to take your leadership to your next level.

Fire Up Your Leadership is a 12-week leadership activation experience for women leaders, created and led by Susan Mazza.

You have worked hard, you strive for excellence, and you do the work that needs to be done. You have done everything you already know how to do, and it has gotten you this far.

And you know you are capable of more.

What you may not know is what specifically to go to work on to reach your next level of leadership. You might even sense something is in the way but you cannot name it. I call this the invisible wall.

Two challenges stand between you and your next level. Only one is in your power to move.

There are two real challenges here, not one.

The Glass Ceiling is the outside-in one: access, advancement, the structures you did not build and cannot move on your own.

The Invisible Wall is the inside-out one: the part that is actually yours to control, and the part that grows you the most as a leader.

It becomes visible when you learn to see your growth edges. You move that wall by taking action to expand past them.

You may be feeling as though you are bumping up against the same wall over and over, which often results in frustration and even exhaustion. Or you may simply know there is another level available to you, and not yet see the way there.

“Susan helped me remember what it is that drives me and rediscover the power of my leadership style.”

— Lori Zipes, first woman Command Chief Engineer across 10 warfare centers, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division

The moments that quietly decide who you become

Consider this: You didn’t lose your power. You’ve been giving it away in specific moments in your real work, the ones that quietly decide the leader you become.

The “I’m sorry” before a sentence that didn’t need it. The idea you softened so it would not sound like too much. The point you made three times that only got heard when someone else made it.

Whether you’re rising faster than your peers, deep in the stretch of mid-career leadership, or senior enough that most of the outside barriers have cleared and what is left is not something anyone else can move for you, this is where the work begins.

The missing bridge from theory to action

Most leadership training gives you theory and techniques. The part that’s often missing is a clear, specific bridge to action: one that shows you exactly what you can do, and specifically where, when and how to start leading at your next level immediately.

Fire Up Your Leadership™ shows you how to see the Invisible Wall, and how to break through it. It helps you see your growth edges, the moments in your real work where new and different action would take you to your next level. Then it supports you in taking that action, when it counts, until acting at your edge becomes how you lead.

How your 12-week journey unfolds

The Fire Up Your Leadership journey: Ignite, Expand, Integrate, and the elevation that follows.

Ignite. See the opportunities to commit acts of leadership that have been there all along, and start acting on them.

Expand. Widen the leadership you’ve started acting on across more of your everyday work, and build the new skills specific moments demand: voice, ownership, tough conversations, influence beyond your immediate role.

Integrate. The new way of thinking becomes how you naturally lead, and you develop the leadership of the people you lead.

Elevate. Not a fourth phase. It’s what the three make possible, and it keeps going long after the twelve weeks end.

You will lead at your next level, not someday, but in your real work every day

It opens with a 1:1 call with me, where we name your first growth edge before you touch a single module. From there, nine modules of training across three phases, each one paired with guidance for applying it in the moments already on your calendar that week.

Once a month you are on a live Leadership Momentum Group Call with other women, each working her own growth edges. You will recognize yourself in them, and learn from their journeys as well as your own.

It moves at the pace your real week allows, and builds a working practice you carry after it ends, not a class you finish and set aside.

“It’s like building muscle memory, the tools become a part of how you think and how you work naturally vs. constantly having to refer to a piece of paper.”

— Rachel Brill-Meckler, Director of Learning and Wellbeing, AEON

How your leadership grows

Fire Up Your Leadership™ is built to produce results. Here is what that looks like:

  • Voice and visibility. Speaking up more often and more effectively, and being seen and heard for it.
  • Ownership and initiative. Leading in new and different situations by stepping up more readily and more effectively. You will lead more not by doing more but by leading differently.
  • Standing for yourself. As your confidence builds from taking new action, you ask for what you need to be successful and satisfied in your work.
  • Standing for others. Taking a stand in the moments that count for the things that matter most, so others feel seen and heard.
  • Leading through others. Building a team that delivers effectively, instead of carrying too much yourself.
  • Accountability and trust. Fewer misunderstandings and unmet expectations, and holding people to account in a way that builds trust rather than costing it.

“I very quickly started stepping out of my comfort zone by speaking up rather than tolerating (my usual MO) situations that weren’t working for me and others. I am so much more confident in my value, and my ability to have effective tough conversations that create a win-win.”

— Michelle B., Head of Marketing

“Fire Up Your Leadership gave me the clarity and confidence to stop waiting to be recognized, and start leading like the VP I was ready to be. One month later, I landed the job. Two years later, I became President.”

— Mandy Kroetsch, President, Crimson Midstream (Senior Manager when she did FYL)

The wall I’m naming on this page is one I had to see in myself and break through first. Then I spent 20 years showing leaders at every level, from managers to Fortune 500 executives, how to do the same.

Your next level is in reach once you can see your growth edges and start taking action in the everyday moments that elevate your leadership.

Are you ready to find out exactly what to work on? If so, I would love to hear from you.
